Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (formerly Bowling Green Technical College) offers several categories of scholarships. Some are general scholarships for students in any field. Some are dedicated to students in such disciplines as culinary arts, HVAC, nursing and allied health.
Recipients for Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) Scholarships are selected by the SKYCTC Scholarship Committee. Decisions of the committee are final and are made without regard to race, color, age, sex, religion, national origin, disability or veteran status, except in cases where such is listed as determining criteria. All scholarships are based on availability of funds. Scholarships and/or award amounts vary per academic year based on availability of funds.

The Kentucky Business Society Scholarship
The Kentucky Business Society (KBS) offers two scholarships, one for $500 and one for $250. Students must be majoring in a business-related program, such as office systems, management, marketing, finance, accounting, economics, information systems, etc., and must be currently enrolled in at least six credit hours. Please refer to the application for complete details and the submission deadline.
PNC Skilled Workforce Investment Scholarship
This scholarship is for students from low- to moderate-income households. Students in high-wage, high-demand workforce development programs and/or who plan to transfer to a Kentucky four-year university to earn a baccalaureate degree are eligible to apply as well. This scholarship is awarded for $1000 for tuition only. The award will be applied at $500 each semester. Recipients may apply for a second year award; however, they will compete with new applicants as well. Applicants must have a FAFSA on file and complete the appropriate application for this scholarship. Applications will be forwarded to the KCTCS Foundation and will be screened by a scholarship committee.
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarships
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s scholarships are designed to encourage and support outstanding students who have a breadth of interests, work hard, demonstrate a strong will to succeed, and have financial need. The Undergraduate Transfer scholarship honors excellence by supporting outstanding community college students with financial need to transfer to and complete their bachelor's degrees at the nation's top four-year colleges and universities.
Kentucky residents who graduate in the top 25% of their high school class and will be enrolled at least part-time time are eligible to apply for this nonrenewable, one-year tuition scholarship. Priority is given to 2013 high school graduates; however, 2012 graduates may apply. Recipients may apply for a second-year award provided they have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours at SKYCTC and have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average. Award amounts vary per academic year.
John T. Smith Scholarship
The John T. Smith Scholarship is available to African-American Kentucky residents who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and demonstrate a need for financial support. This one-year, nonrenewable tuition scholarship can be pro-rated for less-than-full-time students. Recipients may apply for a second year award provided they maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Award amounts vary per academic year.
These prestigious, nonrenewable scholarships are merit-based awards available to full-time students pursuing a diploma or degree. These scholarships are based upon academic excellence, past work performance, involvement in extracurricular or community activities, overall student character and/or financial need. Applicants must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.2 (high school or college) and an ACT composite score of 21 OR a COMPASS sum of 171 points. Award amounts vary per academic year.
AirGas Mid-America Welding Scholarship
Airgas Mid-America, Inc. established this $500 scholarship for students enrolled in the Welding Technology program. The scholarship is open to any student currently enrolled in the Welding Technology Program. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), have completed 12 credits and be enrolled at least part-time. The recipient must reapply each semester in order to be considered by the scholarship committee and the award is contingent on the student maintaining a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Dr. Lewis and Selma Dickinson Practical Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship, established in 2007 by the children of Glasgow Native, Dr. Lewis Dickinson, is designed to assist students from Glasgow/Barren County to attend the Practical Nursing program at the Glasgow Campus. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Award amounts vary per academic year.
Gerald A. Embry Memorial Scholarship
The family of Gerald A. Embry, a former Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College teacher and administrator killed in a tragic automobile accident, established this scholarship fund for SKYCTC students attending a Warren County campus who are in need of financial assistance and have demonstrated the potential for achieving academic success. Any SKYCTC student who has completed 12 credit hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA may apply. A letter of recommendation from an instructor or advisor is required with the application.
Greenview Regional Hospital Scholarship for Allied Health/Nursing
The Greenview Regional Hospital has created an endowed scholarship to assist students enrolled in Allied Health or Nursing at least halftime. Recipients will be determined based on financial need and a demonstration of their potential for achieving academic excellence. Award amounts vary per academic year.
Laura Goad Turner Scholarship
The Laura Goad Turner Charitable Foundation provides scholarship funds for Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College students from Allen County, Kentucky, to pursue a higher education. Any Allen County resident enrolled in a program, which contributes to workforce development in high-need areas, is eligible to apply.
Lake Cumberland Home Health Betty Maybrier
This scholarship shall be awarded to students enrolled in the Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College/Glasgow Campus Practical Nursing program and have demonstrated the potential for achieving academic excellence.
Sandy Jones Boussard Scholarship
This scholarship shall be awarded to students who have demonstrated the potential for achieving academic excellence. Student must be enrolled full time and have accumulated at least 12 credit hours. Student must be in good academic standing with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75. Preference will be given to Housing Authority residents who apply; otherwise the scholarship will be available for Business Studies students.
Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College Staff Council Scholarship
The Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College Staff Council offers scholarships to any current SKYCTC student who has completed at least 24 academic credits within KCTCS and has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or higher. Scholarships for $250 per semester are given based on availability of funds.
Michael T. Bardin Scholarship
The Michael T. Bardin Scholarship was established by Mr. Bardin to recognize students of Kentucky with strength of character, academic achievement and financial need. Mr. Bardin worked for 27 years at Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College where he served as principal for 13 years. His belief in education and generosity will create a lasting legacy affecting the lives of SKYCTC students, families and our community. To be eligible, students must be a US Citizen and KY resident who have completed 12 semester credits at SKYCTC. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Award amounts vary per academic year and application merit.
Pan Oston-Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College Scholarship
The Pan Oston-Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College Scholarship provides funds for two students to attend SKYCTC full time for one academic year. Only Pan Oston employees or family members may apply. Family members include spouse, domestic partner, child, stepchild, grandchild or step-grandchild. Applications are available from Human Resources at Pan Oston.
Robert and Mary Tincher HVAC Scholarship
The Robert and Mary L. Tincher HVAC Scholarship is available to first-year, core HVAC students. The student(s) must be a graduate of Bowling Green High School or Warren County Public Schools within two years prior to scholarship award. Selection is based on financial need. The recipient(s) will receive $2500 for one term. This scholarship is renewable only if the student maintains a 2.0 grade average in the HVAC program.
KCTCS Workforce Development Transfer Scholarship
KCTCS provides two $4000 scholarships to second-year students who plan to earn a degree from KCTCS and then transfer to a Kentucky public or independent four-year college or university. One additional $3000 scholarship is available to a first-year student and is renewable if the student maintains good academic standing. Applicants must be enrolled in a science, technology, engineering or mathematic discipline, health professions, or applied sciences. Recommendations from Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College are forwarded to the KCTCS Scholarship Committee for final selection.
Kentucky Colonel’s Better Life Scholarship
At least one student in each of the 16 KCTCS college districts will be selected to receive a $2500 scholarship to cover tuition, books, and other educational expenses. Recipients must be a Kentucky resident, attend school full time, pursue an associate degree, be a single working parent with one or more children under the age of 12, demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and potential for academic success, and demonstrate financial need not met by other sources. This scholarship is automatically renewable for the second year provided the student meets satisfactory academic progress criteria and remains enrolled full time.
National City Book (PNC) Scholarship
National City Bank (PNC) awards students $250 scholarships to assist with textbook expenses. Applicants must be from low/moderate income households. Recommendations from Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College are forwarded to the KCTCS Scholarship Committee for final selection.
President’s Work Ethic Seal Scholarship
Work Ethic Seal scholarships are a joint effort between Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College and local Chambers of Commerce. These $1000 one-year scholarships are awarded to graduating High School seniors who participate in a local Chamber of Commerce Work Ethic Seal program. Contact your local Chamber of Commerce or your high school guidance counselor for more information.
UK/UL/EKU/WKU/Murray/Morehead KCTCS Transfer Scholarship
All Kentucky public universities offer scholarships specifically geared toward KCTCS graduates who wish to transfer to a four-year institution. Eligibility criteria vary, but complete information can be obtained from the designated scholarship office at the specific university.
