$20,000 DONALD R. MILLER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FORMED AT SOUTHCENTRAL KENTUCKY COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE

Formal photo of Don MillerBowling Green, KY (January 14, 2015) Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) is excited to announce that the Donald R. Miller Endowed Scholarship has been established in the amount of $20,000.

Mr. Miller grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky, close to where SKYCTC is located, and graduated from Warren Central High School. He began his higher education career at Western State College by taking general education classes and joining the Army ROTC. When the US began preparing for the conflict in Vietnam, Mr. Miller joined the Air Force and served as an aircraft Loadmaster/crew member on C-130 Hercules aircraft. After his active duty time, Mr. Miller completed his Bachelor degree in Industrial Education and began teaching at Allen County High School. He taught nine years at Allen County and evenings at Western Kentucky University until the opportunity to serve in the State Department of Education in Frankfort. Miller served as the Director for Vocational-Technical Construction and Maintenance of Technical Schools across the state for 12 years. Afterward, he transferred back to Bowling Green as an administrator of vocational-technical programs. Miller s last few years of service were dedicated to the development of KATI the first advanced technology institute in the state and serving as the first director before his retirement.

It is my wish to establish this scholarship to help students achieve an education and develop a skill that will assist them in having a better life for themselves and their families , said Miller.

SKYCTC has the mission to improve the employability and quality of life of south central Kentucky citizens as the primary provider of: certificate, diploma, associate degree, and collegiate transfer programs; college and workforce readiness programs; workforce education and training; and adult and family literacy.
