Bowling Green, KY (June 1, 2018) –  Bowling Green, KY (June 1, 2018) –  The graduation ceremony for Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College’s (SKYCTC) Adult Education took place on June 1, 2018 at the College's Main Campus in Bowling Green. Friends and family members attended the ceremony that recognized the academic achievement of GED graduates from Barren, Metcalfe, Simpson, and Warren Counties.

The commencement speaker at this year’s ceremony was Heather Wyatt. Heather began her journey toward higher education at Barren County Adult Education in the summer of 2015.  By the winter of the same year, Ms. Wyatt had completed her GED and was recognized as the “Student of the Year” through the Work and Learn program at SKYCTC.

After earning her GED, Ms. Wyatt transitioned from the Work and Learn program into the Ready to Work program, which provides school and career tools to college students. Ms. Wyatt is now a student worker in the IT Department at SKYCTC. She says, “As a single mother, this is something I never thought was possible.” She will graduate next spring from SKYCTC with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Computer and Information Technology.
