STUDENTS EXPLORE FUTURE CAREERS AT EVENING WITH INDUSTRY
Glasgow, KY (September 17, 2019) – Hundreds of high school students from Barren and surrounding counties had the opportunity to talk first hand with area business and industry representatives at the eighth annual “Evening with Industry.” The event was hosted by Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC), along with the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce, Barren County High School, and the Barren County Area Technology Center, as part of Industry Appreciation Week.
“I’m Ready” was the theme of this this year’s event held Tuesday, September 17, 2019. at Barren County High School. Speaking to the students and their parents were: SKYCTC President Dr. Phillip Neal, Superintendent of Barren County Schools Bo Matthews, State Representative Steve Riley, and Mike Nemes, Deputy Secretary for Workforce Development and KDE. They spoke about the career pathways and the educational and employment initiatives available in South Central Kentucky that help students get good-paying careers in our region.
High school juniors and seniors then had the opportunity to speak with area industry representatives and educational professionals regarding employment opportunities and how to earn an industry recognized certificate or diploma that will lead to a great career.
The evening concluded with a free dinner grilled by Kingsford for all who attended.
