November’s PBL Member Spotlight features Selena House, our chapter vice president.  Selena is from Franklin, KY.

When asked why she joined Phi Beta Lambda, Selena explains, “I joined Phi Beta Lambda hoping to get involved in the community. I wanted to be able to participate in community events around school and Bowling Green in general. I also wanted to meet other students with which I had something in common. I wanted to not only be a student but be involved!”

What does Selena like most about Phi Beta Lambda?  “I have enjoyed the guest speakers at our meetings the most. I also really enjoyed the Nebraska PBL Virtual Leadership Conference. Everyone has been very encouraging and full of great advice! I am hoping to attend our state leadership conference before I graduate,” she says.

Why does Selena recommend Phi Beta Lambda? “I would recommend joining Phi Beta Lambda to learn more about the business world and apply those skills to future jobs after graduation.”

Selena chose SKYCTC because her circumstances changed.  “My previous factory job of 18 1/2 years closed and moved out of the country. Instead of working in another factory, I decided to change career fields, go to school, and learn something new. After much prayer, this is what I felt God leading me to do. It has definitely been a leap of faith, but so far it has been the right decision for me,” she says.

Selena will be seeking an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Information Technology, and her planned graduation date is May 2022.  She would like to work in a doctor's office or the administrative side of the medical field.

Selena and her husband, Clayton, have been married for 34 years and have two grown sons, Stacy and Cory.  Selena and Clayton also have four “very spoiled-rotten” cats.  Since the oldest cat is 14, she gets special attention.

In her spare time, Selena enjoys reading, kayaking, and hiking. She also loves college football. Roll Tide!  Selena loves going to festivals and craft shows and enjoys visiting new places (preferably in the United States). She always tries to support local mom and pop places, even while traveling. Selena likes to investigate what is unique to each place she visits. In her own words, “I love being outdoors and enjoying God's creations!”

Congratulations, Selena!
