Embrace Change & Achieve Success

Last day to register for this free conference is Wednesday, Sept 8th

Kentucky Community College Women in Computing (KYCCWIC) is a regional Association for Computing Machinery, supporting, celebrating and advocating for Women in Computing. KYCCWIC connects technical women who are working/studying in Kentucky. This conference gives women an opportunity to learn from leaders in various technical fields. The goal of the conference will be to concentrate on building relationships, preparing women for the future in technical fields, and celebrating women in computing. The 2021 conference will focus on computer security, computer programming, data analytics, and employment.

The conference will be held via Microsoft Teams September 9-10, 2021. The meeting is sponsored by Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College with support from the Association for Computing Machinery as part of this year's celebration of Women in Computing.

This Year's Theme is “Embrace Change & Achieve Success.” How fitting is this theme to explain the last year? Navigating the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us all to face unprecedented challenges. We changed the way we work, educate, parent, and entertain. As our work went virtual, we were forced to embrace new technologies. As our kids came home from school, we were forced to educate them while juggling our own careers and trying to maintain sanity. We held virtual birthday parties and happy hours to stay in touch with loved ones. For so many, these changes were not welcome or perfectly executed. But it is obvious that we somehow were able to embrace the situation and make it work. As we start returning to normal, it is becoming clear that all our efforts were not wasted. We will no doubt continue to use many of the processes put into place as we navigate the new normal. It is often said that change is inevitable, yet growth is optional. We should be proud of our growth through unprecedented change. We faced the challenge head on, and our lives will be richer and more efficient for it. Let us take that momentum and continue to grow through whatever changes come our way.
