SKYCTC Culinary Arts Student Receives State and National Recognition
Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) student Riley Watson was awarded the Kentucky Restaurant Associations Culinary Arts Student of the Year at the Kentucky Restaurant Association (KRA) Gala and awards ceremony in Louisville on Monday, January 16, 2017. She was one of three finalists for the award.
This is the third consecutive year that a SKYCTC Culinary student has received this prestigious award.
Each year, KRA recognizes the Student of the Year based on their academic achievement, work history, community and civic organization involvement, and professional accomplishments.
Students are nominated by their college faculty, peers and members of the community for this prestigious award. This award allows instructors the opportunity to reward a culinary student who has shown the potential for becoming an exceptional chef or restaurateur in the hospitality industry.
It's an honor to be recognized for this award because most times in college, recognition doesn't come easy and for my whole life I have done everything I can to work hard and be successful, Watson said. This award makes me feel as though all of the hard work, determination, and dedication have added up to be the perfect recipe for success. I am so thrilled to see where my degree in Culinary takes me.
