Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) surgical technology students achieved a 100% pass rate on the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination. This is the second year in a row that the SKYCTC surgical technology students achieved 100% pass rate on the exam.

Graduates obtaining national certification as a CST demonstrate, by examination, understanding of the basic competencies for safe patient care in the operating room..

The CST is recognized in the healthcare community as the foremost credential for surgical technologists in the nation. It is required for employment within many local, state and national healthcare organizations.

SKYCTC Program Director of Surgical Technology, Debra Crews and Clinical Coordinator Amanda DeFevers expressed pride in their students for their persistence of hard work. “It takes self-motivation as well as classroom and clinical experience to achieve this level of certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist," said Crews.

The CST examination is a fully accredited examination by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) for surgical technologists. NCCA accreditation assures the CST examination meets stringent standards of examination development and administration.
