WORK READY KENTUCKY SCHOLARSHIP- WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE AND WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
During the next several weeks we will be featuring some frequently asked questions about the new Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program so that you can help spread the word to prospective students about this wonderful opportunity.
1. What does the scholarship include?
The WRKS provides free tuition for certificate and diploma programs in five fields that are considered high-demand in Kentucky. Those fields are: Health Care, Advanced Manufacturing, Transportation/Logistics, Business Services/Information Technology, and Construction/Trades.
The Work Ready KY Scholarship is a last dollar program that covers tuition and required fees not covered by federal financial grants and third party scholarships.
It is for individuals who Individuals who have not yet earned a college degree of any type but have a high school diploma or GED. KCTCS students in the Accelerating Opportunity Kentucky (AOKY) program also are eligible. AOKY allows students to earn a GED while also taking college courses.
The scholarship covers 32 credit hours to be completed in two years.
2. Who is eligible?
A U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is a Kentucky resident.
Individuals who have not yet earned a college degree of any type but have a high school diploma or GED (KCTCS students in the Accelerating Opportunity Kentucky (AOKY) program also are eligible).
There are no income or age limits to qualify. The only educational requirement to apply is a high school diploma or GED.
