
Direct Admissions for High School Students (Early Enrollment)
Start your journey to becoming a nurse while you're still in high school. The nursing program at SKY has a selective admission process; however, students can qualify for direct admission into the program by meeting the following requirements for either the Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing Program.
Practical Nursing Program
Direct Admission may be considered for students who are applying to the practical
nursing program for the first time. Students who have had unsuccessful attempts in
nursing courses (defined as earning a grade of D, E, W, or equivalent) in any nursing
program, including SKYCTC, are not eligible for Direct Admission.
Eligible students must have a complete nursing application on file, meet all nursing
program admission requirements, and satisfy the following additional criteria:
- Grade Point Average (GPA)
A minimum GPA of 3.6 is required in the following courses:- AHS 115 – Medical Terminology
- BIO 137 – Human Anatomy and Physiology I
- BIO 139 – Human Anatomy and Physiology II
- ENG 101 – Writing I
- Admission Assessment
- A minimum Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) composite score at the Advanced level (78% or higher) is required.
Registered Nursing Program
Direct Admission may be considered for students who are applying to the registered
nursing program for the first time. Students who have had unsuccessful attempts in
nursing courses (defined as earning a grade of D, E, W, or equivalent) in any nursing
program, including SKYCTC, are not eligible for Direct Admission.
Eligible students must have a complete nursing application on file, meet all nursing
program admission requirements, and satisfy the following additional criteria:
- Grade Point Average (GPA)
A minimum GPA of 3.6 is required in the following courses:- BIO 137 – Human Anatomy and Physiology I
- BIO 139 – Human Anatomy and Physiology II
- PSY 110 – General Psychology
- Quantitative Reasoning course at the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science level (MAT 150 preferred but not required)
- Admission Assessment
- A minimum Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) composite score at the Advanced level (78% or higher) is required.
