Bowling Green, KY – Marion Boyd began her career at The Medical Center at Bowling Green in 1963 and advanced to become a manager of Radiology. She was a teacher, mentor and friend to many students and staff through her remarkable 57 years of employment.
In recognition of her many years of service, an education scholarship fund in memory of Marion has been established at Med Center Health Foundation to support a student entering the Radiology program at SKYCTC.
The inaugural Marion Boyd Scholarship was presented by Amy Hardin, Director of Med Center Health Foundation at a ceremony August 17, 2021, to SKYCTC radiography student Autum White.
“It is an honor to be chosen for the Marion Body Scholarship at SKYCTC for my final year in the Radiology Program,” says White. “By receiving this scholarship, it has lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on my studies. I am profoundly grateful for the scholarship support. It has inspired me to help others and give back to the community. I hope one day I will be able to help and lead students to achieve their goals just as Marion did!”
“Marion Boyd voluntarily served as a clinical instructor for the SKYCTC Radiography program”, said Lori Slaughter, Assistant to the Dean of Allied Health and Nursing and Professor of Radiography at SKYCTC. “She had been in the field of Radiology since 1963 and has played a vital role in the livelihood of the Radiography students at SKYCTC and the future of their families. She not only prepared them for their forthcoming careers, but she also gave much wanted/needed advice for everyday life in general. She made every student feel special as if they were her number one and she truly meant it. Even though Marion is no longer here with us physically, she will always be involved in the lives of future Radiography students through this scholarship. Thank you sweet Marion - you are still making a difference.”
“The generosity of Marion’s family, friends and the Med Center Health Foundation will have a tremendous impact on the life of SKYCTC students starting their career in the radiography field,” says Heather Rogers, VP of Resource Development at SKYCTC. “Marion’s extensive, successful career in healthcare will serve as a model for those who receive this scholarship. We are proud to honor Marion’s legacy.”
