The Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College's (SKYCTC) Franklin-Simpson Center expresses deep appreciation to Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. for their generous donation of eight FANUC Robots to the SKY FAME Program. Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.'s commitment to advancing education and workforce development is exemplified through this substantial contribution to the SKY FAME Program. The donation of FANUC Robots, renowned for their cutting-edge technology, will play a pivotal role in enhancing the hands-on learning experiences for students enrolled in the SKY FAME Program.

SKY FAME is a work-and-learn, selective admissions program designed to educate Advanced Manufacturing Technicians (AMTs). Students attend classes at the SKYCTC Franklin-Simpson Center two days per week and work at least 24 hours per week at a sponsoring manufacturer – all while being paid a competitive wage. AMTs study a multi-craft technical skill set, including electricity, robotics, fluid power, mechanics, fabrication, industrial troubleshooting, and more. After five semesters, students earn an Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology (Advanced Manufacturing Technician) and over 1,800 hours of on-the-job work experience.

Kelcie Richart, Campus Director, at SKYCTC's Franklin-Simpson Center, conveyed sincere gratitude, stating, "We are immensely thankful to Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. for their invaluable support of the SKY FAME Program. The donation of FANUC Robots not only aligns with industry standards but also provides our students with a unique opportunity to gain practical skills crucial for success in advanced manufacturing."

The collaboration between SKYCTC and Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. underscores a shared vision of empowering students with the tools and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape. This generous donation reflects Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.'s dedication to investing in the future of the local workforce.
