Versailles, Ky. – Kentucky's top community and technical college students have been selected for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System's (KCTCS) 2023 All-Academic Team. Students from each of the 16 KCTCS colleges were chosen based on a rigorous selection process that focuses on academic performance and community service.

Selected from Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College were Ashley Davis and Kate Baker

Ashley Davis of Bowling Green, KY is pursuing an Associate in Applied Science in Business Administration and a Associate in Science in Medical Information Technology. Beyond graduation, she hopes to take her compassion for others into the medical field and help others. Her long-term plans include one day working for the cancer registry.

"I started my journey here at SKYCTC months after making a major move from another state with my four children,” says Davis.  “Leaving all my family behind was hard, but I quickly found support through the Ready to Work Program and made friends with those who surrounded me during my hardships. Though I have had to navigate my way around a record number of obstacles the last few years, quitting was never an option. I will carry my strength proudly across the stage in May when I graduate."

Kate Baker of Bowling Green, KY will graduate in the Fall of 2023 at SKYCTC with an Associate in Arts degree and plans to transfer to Western Kentucky University to pursue her bachelor's degree in Film and History, with a concentration in either cultural or public history.  She plans to pursue a master’s degree to go into museum curation or seek work as a historian for film.

“Since starting SKYCTC, I’ve gotten involved with SKY Writers, Sky’s LGBTQ+ Club, and, more recently, as Phi Theta Kappa’s President,” says Baker. “In addition, I’ve had the honor of helping other students adjust to college life as a Student Ambassador.”

“I’m grateful to have not only been able to attend SKYCTC, but to thrive thanks to the teachers and faculty here. It’s here that I decided that I want to share my passion for history with others, in my own way, and I’m so grateful to the community that has helped cultivate it. This has been an incredible journey, and I’m honored to be able to represent SKYCTC on the All-Academic team this year."

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College congratulates Ashley Davis and Kate Baker for being selected to this year’s KCTCS All-Academic Team.
