Inaugural Dr. Amy Embry Memorial Scholarship presented to Alaina Neely

The inaugural scholarship from the Dr. Amy Embry Memorial Scholarship fund was presented to SKYCTC nursing student, Alaina Neely.  Neely is originally from Butler Co. – Dr. Embry’s hometown. Alaina Neely, a nursing student at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC), received the inaugural Dr. Amy Embry Memorial Scholarship during a heartfelt ceremony at the college's Glasgow Health Campus on Tuesday, February 20. The scholarship, established in memory of Dr. Amy Embry, a devoted assistant professor at SKYCTC, aims to honor her legacy and support aspiring healthcare professionals.

Dr. Amy Embry, a beloved assistant professor in the biology department at SKYCTC and a licensed chiropractor, dedicated five years to teaching Anatomy and Physiology before tragically losing her life in a car accident. To commemorate her passion for education and healthcare, Dr. Embry's family established the memorial scholarship in her name.

Alaina Neely, originally from Butler County, the hometown of Dr. Embry, expressed her gratitude upon receiving the scholarship. Neely, a nursing student at SKYCTC's Glasgow Campus, highlighted Dr. Embry's profound impact on her students and peers, emphasizing her kindness and dedication to teaching. Neely expressed her deep appreciation for the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse with the support of the scholarship.

The Dr. Amy Embry Memorial Scholarship is open to both first-time and current SKYCTC students, whether they are enrolled full-time or part-time. Preference is given to students who graduated from Butler County High School and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, either from high school or college. Additionally, applicants must be pursuing an associate degree in Allied Health. In the absence of eligible Allied Health degree candidates, second preference is given to students pursuing an Associate in Science degree
