KCTCS students are invited to enroll in the Pathfinder Student Leadership Conference

Bowling Green, Ky. – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) is offering one-day leadership conferences for all KCTCS students interested in leadership initiatives to further their success in college and their future careers.

The conference will be offered online, and students can choose either Friday, September 20, from 4:00pm-9:30pm (CST), 5:00pm-10:30pm (EST) or Saturday, September 21, from 9:00am-2:30pm (CST), 10:00am-3:30pm (EST).

Through a combination of workshops, experiential activities and self-reflection, students will learn how to make positive changes in their own lives and in their community.

Workshop Descriptions include:

  • Leadership a Primer Presenter: Dr. David Lawrence Travis, Director of Student Life and Engagement, SKYCTC
  • Unconventional Leadership: Artist as Activist Presenter: C. David Jones, Associate Professor of Art, SKYCTC
  • Recruitment and Retention: Presenter: Elana M. Stubbs, Coordinator of Student Activities and Retention, Hopkinsville Community College
  • Dealing with Conflict: Presenter: Dr. David Lawrence Travis, Director of Student Life and Engagement, SKYCTC
  • Communication and Persuasion: Presenter: Benjamin Whitlock, Director of Student Success, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
  • Program Planning, Collaboration and How to Stretch Your Budget Presenter: Dr. David Lawrence Travis, Director of Student Life and Engagement, SKYCTC
  • Transferable Skills and the Job Search Presenter: Sherita Clark, Career Services/VA School Certifying Official, SKYCTC 

Upon completion of the workshops, students can earn the following certificates:

  • Pathfinder Student Leadership Certificate (awarded to students who attend the conference) Student Organization Leader track certificate • Leadership Principles track certificate
  • Involved Student Leader certificate Awarded to students who attend the conference and hold membership in a student organization at their host KCTCS institution.
  • Reflective Student Leader certificate Awarded to students who attend the conference who complete and submit their personal leadership philosophy paper.
