Versailles, Kentucky - March 29, 2024 - The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) is thrilled to announce the commencement of its inaugural KCTCS Giving Day on April 25, coinciding with Community College Month. This 24-hour fundraising event aims to rally support from across the commonwealth to provide crucial financial assistance for students facing hardships across the state’s 16 community colleges.

Among the top priorities for KCTCS Giving Day are scholarships, food pantries, emergency aid, and student enrichment programs. Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College has issued a challenge to its alumni, urging them to contribute on April 25 to establish an alumni scholarship fund aimed at assisting current and future students.

KCTCS President Ryan Quarles emphasized the transformative impact of supporting students on Giving Day, stating, “By supporting our students on KCTCS Giving Day, you are empowering their futures and transforming their lives. Gifts of any size make a difference, and we look forward to rallying together with our alumni, communities, friends, business and industry partners, and education advocates in support of Kentucky’s future workforce.”

With economic challenges affecting many Kentucky families, the need for student support has never been greater. Scholarships funded through Giving Day will be need-based, helping students to persist in college and complete their education.

In addition to scholarships, donations made during Giving Day will bolster food pantries and emergency aid. Recent surveys have highlighted food insecurity as a significant issue among KCTCS students, with 25% reporting low food security. Providing access to nutritious food aims to create a supportive environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

Individuals, businesses, and organizations interested in supporting students at SKYCTC can designate their gift for a specific college and program of their choice. Early giving is already open, and supporters are encouraged to engage with KCTCS Giving Day at the KCTCS Giving Day website at KCTCS.edu/givingday.
