BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) extends its sincere gratitude to Houchens Food Group (HFG) for their generous donation of food products to the College’s Pathfinder Pantry. The pantry, established to support SKYCTC students in need, provides essential food items to help students focus on their education without worrying about hunger.

HFG became aware of the Pantry through their ongoing partnership with SKYCTC Workforce Solutions, which delivers customized leadership training to Houchens employees. This partnership has been in place for over three years and has provided more than 1,500 training hours to Houchens leaders at various levels within the company’s subsidiaries. An additional 171 hours of customized training are set to be completed by January 2025, with plans for the next phase beginning in February.

After learning about the Pathfinder Pantry through discussions with SKYCTC’s Workforce Solutions Project Manager, Houchens senior leadership expressed a strong interest in supporting the Pantry’s mission. Their donation, made through the SKYCTC Foundation, ensures that students in need have easy access to vital food supplies. The pantry is an essential resource that helps alleviate food insecurity among SKYCTC students, allowing them to concentrate on their academic and personal success.

Houchens Food Group is a diversified company with operations spanning the retail, grocery, and convenience store sectors. Headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky, HFG operates over 400 stores across 15 states, including Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, and Georgia.

“We are grateful for Houchens Food Group’s continued support of SKYCTC and their generous contribution to the Pathfinder Pantry,” said Dr. David Travis, Acting Associate Vice President of Student Affairs. “Their commitment to both leadership development and the well-being of our students is truly commendable.”
