In our Alumni Spotlight series, we feature outstanding individuals who have made significant strides in their careers after graduating from Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC). Today, we highlight Jordan Pritchard, a 2023 Business Administration graduate, who shares his journey from campus exploration to a successful career in Human Resources (HR).

Pritchard's journey began with a visit to the SKYCTC campus during his senior year of high school. Drawn to the welcoming atmosphere and the affordability of education, he found a home at SKYCTC, where he pursued a Business Administration degree.

"I loved the atmosphere, and everyone I met on campus was very nice and helpful. SKYCTC allowed me to pursue my degree while doing so at a very reasonable cost," said Pritchard.

During his time at SKYCTC, Pritchard found inspiration in two influential mentors, Julie Dent and April Harris, SKYCTC faculty.

"Professor Julie Dent was the first professor I met when I started classes at SKY. She always encouraged me to do my best and helped me realize my passion for the Business field," Pritchard explained. "Professor April Harris taught me so much that I have used today in my HR job. Her classes helped prepare me for where I am today."

Pritchard advises current students to give their best effort in every class and to appreciate the value of education. He emphasizes that SKYCTC provides a rich educational experience, and students should make the most of the support offered by the faculty and staff.

"The faculty and staff are there for you anytime you need support. SKYCTC showed me how valuable education is, and I know it does the same thing for others too," said Pritchard.

Shortly after graduating from SKYCTC, Pritchard embarked on his career in Human Resources, landing an entry-level HR job last summer. Reflecting on his journey, he acknowledges the pivotal role SKYCTC played in shaping his professional life.

"I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for my college education. SKYCTC has made a huge impact on my life, and I will always be thankful for that," shared Pritchard.

To current students eyeing a career in the Business field, Pritchard highlights the vast opportunities within the industry.

"The Business field is huge and has so many opportunities. People can take a business degree and use it in many ways. My career in HR is just one example of this. SKYCTC can show you the multiple opportunities you can pursue with a business degree," concluded Pritchard.

Jordan Pritchard's success story exemplifies the transformative power of education and the positive impact SKYCTC continues to have on its graduates. We look forward to sharing more inspiring stories from SKYCTC alumni in future spotlights.
