BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - One student is giving back to a cause that is close to his heart.

Joshua Martin, a freshman at Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College, collected over $1,000 in donations for New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding through a 4-H Service Project he organized in December 2024.

Throughout December, people donated paper towels, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies and more that can be used for the riders and horses at the local nonprofit.

The school serves individuals with disabilities and enhances their lives using the power of horses, per the release.

Martin knows firsthand how the organization helps people.

At 5 years old, he started therapeutic riding lessons at New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding and has ridden and volunteered there for over a decade.

“I wanted to show my thanks to New Beginnings. I want to make sure the program can continue to help other people too,” he said.

He will present the donated items and money to New Beginnings at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 16 at the NBTR office at 600 Bill Ferguson Road in Bowling Green.

Although this service project is over, New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding will accept donations, volunteers, and riders year-round. For more information, go to nbtr-bg.org or call 270-777-3600.
