Bowling Green, KY (June 26, 2025) — Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College’s (SKYCTC) Adult Education Division proudly celebrated the academic achievements of over seventy-five GED graduates from Barren, Metcalfe, Simpson, and Warren Counties during a graduation ceremony held on June 26, 2025.

The event recognized the determination and perseverance of adult learners who overcame various personal, educational, and professional challenges to earn their General Educational Development (GED) diploma. The celebration featured inspiring speeches from three graduates who shared their powerful stories of resilience and transformation.

Brandon Juventino Salvador, originally from Bardstown, KY, overcame a turbulent past marked by trauma, addiction, and legal troubles. After receiving a second chance through pre-trial diversion, Brandon committed to sobriety, rehabilitation, and self-growth. He earned his GED at SKYCTC and is now laying the foundation for a future in sales, higher education, entrepreneurship, and global travel. Brandon hopes his story will inspire others to pursue a brighter future.

Jack Shane Young, a native of Glasgow, KY, was referred to SKYCTC’s Barren County Adult Education Center through drug court. Despite lacking a high school education and facing numerous personal hurdles, Jack committed over 100 hours of study to pass the GED exam. Now, he’s determined to help others by becoming a peer support specialist, using his experience to guide others on the path to recovery.

Amanda Reynolds demonstrated unwavering resilience in the face of life’s challenges. After leaving high school due to a medical issue and later discovering her homeschool program lacked accreditation, Amanda dedicated herself to raising a blended family of five children. When job loss revealed the necessity of a high school credential, she enrolled at SKYCTC’s Adult Education Center, earned her GED, and immediately enrolled in college to pursue an associate degree in science with the goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.

“These stories are just a few examples of the strength and determination our adult learners exhibit every day,” said Dr. Joda Johnson, Director of SKYCTC’s Adult Education. “Our graduates prove that it’s never too late to invest in yourself and change your future.”

SKYCTC’s Adult Education Centers across Barren, Metcalfe, Simpson, and Warren Counties offer a wide array of free services including GED preparation, academic remediation, college readiness courses, English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction, citizenship exam preparation, and certifications such as the Kentucky Essential Skills Certificate and the National Career Readiness Certificate.

The College congratulates the 2024–2025 GED graduates and applauds their dedication to academic and personal success.
