From Dead-End Jobs to Cybersecurity Consultant:
How SKYCTC Helped Nick Conder Launch a Meaningful Career

BOWLING GREEN, KY – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) proudly spotlights alumnus Nick Conder, a 2018 graduate of the Computer and Information Technology program, whose determination and education have propelled him into a successful career in cybersecurity.

After completing his associate degree at SKYCTC, Nick furthered his education at the University of the Cumberlands, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology – Cybersecurity. Today, he serves as an Information/Cyber Security Consultant III at CSI, a prominent provider of financial technology and cybersecurity solutions.

Reflecting on his decision to attend SKYCTC, Nick shared, “I was looking for a career and life change. I had enough of working dead-end jobs and wanted to pursue higher education.”

He credits SKYCTC for playing a pivotal role in his professional journey:
“Without SKYCTC, I never would have landed my first job in tech. The coursework and labs offered by the college are some of the best in the state for real-world, practical experience. I used the knowledge I gained from both SKYCTC and my previous jobs to level up my career. Honestly, without SKYCTC, I’m not sure where I would be today.”

Nick encourages current students to find a mentor, get involved, and most importantly, avoid procrastination. For those considering a career in IT or cybersecurity, he advises:
“The pursuit for knowledge in IT/Cyber is always ongoing. Focus on learning and developing your skills. Set up labs, pursue higher education, earn certs, and consume good technology information.”

Nick’s story is a testament to the transformative power of community and technical college education. SKYCTC is proud to celebrate alumni like Nick who continue to make a lasting impact in their fields.
