SKYCTC Alumni Spotlight: Linsey and Nate Simpson

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, SKYCTC is proud to feature Linsey and Nate Simpson as our next Alumni Spotlight. Their journey is one of dedication, perseverance, and love—both in their professional endeavors and personal lives.

Linsey earned her degree in Respiratory Care from SKYCTC in 2022 and went on to complete her Bachelor's in 2023. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s in Respiratory Care, with plans to graduate in 2026. She serves as a Respiratory Therapist at The Medical Center, where she applies her education and skills to help patients daily.

Nate graduated in 2022 with a degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology and continued his education by earning a second degree in Electrical Technology in 2023. His expertise led him to his current role as a Maintenance Team Leader at Tenneco, where he continues to grow in his career.

Beyond their impressive professional achievements, Linsey and Nate share a deep bond forged through service. Both are proud U.S. Army veterans who met while stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Their love story began in service and continued beyond their military careers—they tied the knot in 2013 and have been supporting each other’s dreams ever since.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO ATTEND SKYCTC?
Linsey: It was close to where I live, affordable, felt like family, and offered the classes I needed to pursue my career.

Nate: Job opportunities.

WHO INFLUENCED YOU MOST DURING YOUR TIME AT SKYCTC?
Linsey: I had such an amazing experience with all my instructors. Mrs. Coni and Mrs. Carmen are forever in my heart.

Nate: Chuck Houchens.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS WANTING TO MAKE THE MOST OF THEIR EXPERIENCE AT SKYCTC?
Linsey: Utilize the resources that are offered—tutoring, the library, the ambassador program. SKYCTC has amazing resources to help make you successful.

Nate: Be curious and learn everything you can.

DESCRIBE YOUR CAREER PATH AND HOW SKYCTC HELPED PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR CURRENT ROLE.
Linsey: The Respiratory program provided hands-on experience with real-life equipment and scenarios. Onsite clinicals helped me integrate into the real world, preparing me for my role today.

Nate: After leaving the Army, I worked in production jobs before developing an interest in maintenance. I entered an apprenticeship and attended SKYCTC while gaining hands-on experience in the field.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE CURRENT STUDENTS INTERESTED IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL FIELD?
Linsey: Stay organized, keep everything, prioritize your studies, and ask questions.

Nate: There is a great deal of opportunity for those willing to learn and put in the time. Employment opportunities are abundant in most areas of this field.
