Relieving the Stress of Finals Week at SKYCTC

As finals week settles over Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC), the campus hums with the familiar tension of last-minute study sessions, overflowing notebooks, and the pressure to finish the semester strong. But amid the stress, SKYCTC is offering students a much-needed reminder: you don’t have to face finals week alone.

This year, Student Life and Engagement is doing their part to ease the stress of finals with the Final Exam Study Break, running Monday through Thursday, December 8–11. Students on the Main Campus can grab a free hot beverage in the Café, a small warm-up during chilly study days. Those studying at the Franklin-Simpson, Glasgow Health, Glasgow Tech, and Transpark campuses won’t be left out—they can stop by their campus office for free snacks to keep their energy up as they prepare for exams.

Meanwhile, the Learning Commons is transforming into a supportive, stress-relief hub during its Study Break, December 8–12. Designed to keep students grounded and focused, the Learning Commons will offer a variety of simple but effective pick-me-ups: free snacks, coloring sheets, and a group puzzle that encourages a mental break and a moment of connection with classmates. For academic support, students can take advantage of walk-in tutoring—with times posted daily on the Learning Commons whiteboard—as well as scheduled tutoring and research help through the Ask! page. And for a quick concentration boost, peppermints for focus will be available to anyone who needs them.

As the semester’s final days unfold, SKYCTC is reminding students that taking care of themselves is just as important as preparing for their exams. With warm drinks, helpful tutors, brain-boosting snacks, and quiet moments of creativity, these campus resources are here to help students breathe, reset, and head into finals week feeling supported—and ready to succeed.
