SKYCTC students selected as KCTCS Scholars

Versailles, Ky. – Two outstanding students from Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) have been named to the prestigious Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) 2025 Scholars, (formerly KCTCS All-Academic Team). Alex Smith and Roberto Amador were selected through a competitive process that recognizes academic excellence, leadership, and community service.

Roberto Amador, a Computer Information Technology student at SKYCTC, brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished military career. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, he served in the U.S. Army for seven years before transitioning to the Air Force, where he spent an additional 24 years in medical healthcare and human resources, retiring in 2021. A member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Roberto is also an active volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol Kentucky Wing. Now residing in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with his wife and two Siamese cats, he aspires to work in IT within the medical industry and is considering further studies in Medical Information Technology. His hobbies include traveling, cruising, landscaping, and growing plants.

Alex Smith, from Athens, Georgia, is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with plans to transfer to a four-year institution to study Criminal Law. He has demonstrated remarkable dedication to SKYCTC through his roles as a Student Ambassador, a regional and local officer in Phi Theta Kappa, and former president of the Student Government Association. He also served as a student representative on the SKYCTC Board of Directors. Beyond academics, Alex is a Military Police soldier in the Kentucky National Guard, where he has received multiple awards for his service. His military experience has strengthened his passion for justice, advocacy, and fairness in the legal system.

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College congratulates Alex Smith and Roberto Amador on this well-earned recognition. Their achievements exemplify the commitment to academic excellence and community impact that the KCTCS Scholars represent.
