SKYCTC to Host SKY FAME Family Recruitment Night February 26

Franklin, KY – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) will host a SKY FAME Family Recruitment Night on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the SKYCTC Franklin-Simpson Center. The event is designed for individuals interested in learning more about the SKY FAME work-and-learn advanced manufacturing program, and prospective students are strongly encouraged to attend with their parents or guardians.
The Southcentral Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (SKY FAME) is a partnership of regional manufacturers committed to developing a highly skilled workforce through a unique work-and-learn model. The program enables students to begin a challenging and rewarding career in advanced manufacturing while earning a college degree—often graduating with little to no student debt.
Students accepted into the program attend classes at the SKYCTC Franklin-Simpson Center two days per week and work a minimum of 24 hours per week with a local manufacturing employer. Participants earn a competitive wage while gaining hands-on, real-world experience. Coursework emphasizes a multi-craft technical skill set, including electricity, robotics, fluid power, mechanics, fabrication, industrial troubleshooting, and more.
After five semesters, students earn an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Industrial Maintenance Technology – Advanced Manufacturing Technician Track, along with more than 1,800 hours of paid, on-the-job work experience.
“The SKY FAME program is an outstanding opportunity that blends engaging lectures with hands-on learning directly applicable to the workplace,” said alumnus Daniels Dawson. “My experience as a SKY FAME student and intern at Owls Head Alloys in Bowling Green has been exceptional. The skills and knowledge I gained have been invaluable in my career, and the program has truly been transformative.” Dawson is currently employed at Owls Head Alloys.
SKY FAME is currently recruiting for its 11th cohort. Since launching in 2016, the program has graduated more than 120 students, with an additional 27 expected to graduate in May. Alumni are employed at 22 manufacturing facilities affiliated with the SKY FAME program.
The recruitment event will take place at 5:00 p.m. on February 26 at the SKYCTC Franklin-Simpson Center, located at 175 Davis Drive in Franklin. Door prizes will be awarded, including a 65-inch Smart TV and a Dell laptop valued at more than $800. Winners must be present to win.
