
ARTWORKS Inc. Members Only Judged Exhibition announces award winners at SKYCTC Art Gallery

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) and ArtWorks Inc. recently announced the award winners of the ArtWorks Inc. Members Only Judged Summer Exhibition during an opening reception and awards ceremony held on June 8, 2026, at the SKYCTC Art Gallery.
The exhibition, which runs from June 8 through July 23, 2026, showcases the creative talents of ArtWorks Inc. members and is being held at the SKYCTC Art Gallery on the college’s main campus, located inside the new Robert & Mary Tincher Campus & Community Center at 1845 Loop Drive in Bowling Green.
The Summer Exhibition features a diverse collection of artwork from regional artists who are members of ArtWorks Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the visual arts throughout Southcentral Kentucky.
Melissa Vandenberg, Professor of Art at Eastern Kentucky University, served as judge for the exhibition. Awards recognizing outstanding artistic achievement were presented in several categories, including Best of Show, First, Second, and Third Place, Merit Awards, the Myra Dwyer Award, and Best Newbie.
Award recipients included:
Best of Show – Yvonne Petkus, Ramparts, Oil, Encaustic, and Oil Pastel on Canvas
First Place – Lauren A. Milliken, El Burrito, Black & White Photography
Second Place – Kim Jones, Urban Sprawl, Mixed Media on Board
Third Place – David Marquez, I’m Walking Here, 3-D Printed PETG
Merit Award – Leslie Nichols, Magda (Morgan 1970), Typewritten Words of Robin Morgan
Merit Award – Sheila Flener, Artist Book #67, Mixed Media
Myra Dwyer Award – Mike Nichols, Reverie, Silverpoint on Stonepaper
Best Newbie – Raymond V. Mendoza, The Canal, Oil Painting
“We are thrilled to open this new gallery as a cultural resource for both our campus
and the surrounding community,” said Leslie Nichols, SKYCTC Gallery Director. “The
summer show highlights the creativity of artists in the community, and we are proud
to celebrate and share their vision and talents with the public.”
“This exhibition is a celebration of the incredible creativity within our membership and a chance to share our work with the broader Southcentral Kentucky community,” said Paul Johnson, President of ArtWorks Inc. “We encourage all members to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to showcase their artwork in one of the region’s newest and most exciting exhibition venues.”
The SKYCTC Art Gallery is dedicated to enriching the cultural and educational experiences of students, faculty, staff, and community members through artistic expression, collaboration, and community engagement. The public is encouraged to visit the gallery and experience the artwork on display throughout the summer.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through July 23, 2026.
