When asked why he joined FBLA Collegiate, Brenton explains, “I joined FBLA to develop my professional and networking skills, allowing me to be better prepared to enter the wide world of business. In addition, I joined to meet other business students studying similar fields and with similar interests.”

Brenton has been an active member of FBLA Collegiate by participating in meetings, campus events, community service events, and business tours. What has he enjoyed the most? “My favorite things we have done so far include touring businesses such as the WNKY TV station and WKU Innovation Campus and taking part in community service projects such as Toys for Tots and the Warming Tree,” he says.

Why does Brenton recommend FBLA Collegiate? He explains, “I would recommend FBLA to students wanting to foster real-world professional skills, develop themselves as individuals, and for those who want to make meaningful additions to their resume so that it will immediately stand out to potential employers.”

Brenton is studying accounting and plans to graduate in 2027 with his Associate in Applied Science degree. He explains, “I plan to pursue an internship either in an industry accounting role or in a public accountant office. From there, I plan to pursue a career in corporate accounting.”

What brought Brenton to SKYCTC? “I came to SKYCTC looking to get a business degree because I knew it was the best option for a variety of career options. This seemed like the appropriate program of study for me as I wasn't one-hundred percent sure what I wanted to do,” he says.

Brenton lives in Russellville but was born in Knoxville, TN. He comes from a small, tight-knit family. Brenton’s mom grew up in Bowling Green so coming back to Kentucky offered the opportunity to be closer to family. His family raised beef cattle, began beekeeping, and raised chickens. He has an older brother (and best friend) named David who lives in Texas. Brenton’s father is a retired pathologist.

Brenton’s hobbies include music and video games. He explains, “I play guitar and bass, love to write music, and listen to heavy metal, especially Meshuggah and Tool. On the weekends, I am often playing video games with my brother.”

Brenton has an indoor cat named Lucy who likes to sleep in his lap while he tries to complete homework assignments.

Brenton explains his fun fact. “I have an instrumental rock album copywritten to my name. It was a fledgling attempt at an EP that I feel I could've done much better, but it is still cool to receive a letter from the Library of Congress, nonetheless.

Brenton has a close relationship with his mother. “I would like to give a shoutout to my mom who has made almost a full recovery after having a shoulder, partial hip, and double knee replacement in the last 4 years. In spite of all the struggles of recovery, she has been nothing but supportive throughout my college journey.”

Congratulations, Brenton!
