BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) is proud to recognize Hill’s Pet Nutrition for its generous support of the College’s Culture of Caring Hygiene Basket Project through the United Way of Southern Kentucky’s Annual Day of Caring initiative. Hill’s Pet Nutrition selected the SKYCTC Culture of Caring Hygiene Basket Project as a Day of Caring recipient and provided hygiene-related supplies to help stock hygiene baskets located across SKYCTC campuses. The project addresses a critical need by ensuring that students have access to essential personal care items, helping remove barriers that can impact academic success and student well-being. The Culture of Caring Hygiene Basket Project provides complimentary hygiene products for students who may be experiencing financial hardship or unexpected life circumstances and is facilitated by faculty and staff volunteers who call themselves “The Caring Crowd.” Supplies are made available throughout the academic year to support student health, dignity, and success.
“We are deeply grateful to Hill’s Pet Nutrition for their generosity and commitment to our students,” said Dr. Stephanie Tolliver Hyman, Dean of Arts & Humanities, who coordinates the Culture of Caring Hygiene Basket Project along with Administrative Assistant, Megan Saling. “These donations will have a meaningful impact on students across our campuses by helping ensure they have access to basic necessities that many of us take for granted. Community partnerships like this demonstrate the power of caring and the difference we can make together.”
Representatives from Hill’s Pet Nutrition worked with SKYCTC to coordinate the donation and expressed enthusiasm for supporting the initiative. The company also indicated plans to continue encouraging employee contributions and exploring additional opportunities to support the project in the future.
The donation was made possible through the leadership of the United Way of Southern Kentucky, whose Annual Day of Caring program connects businesses and organizations with meaningful community service opportunities throughout the region. Through this partnership, local employers, volunteers, and nonprofit organizations work together to address community needs and strengthen the quality of life across southcentral Kentucky. The Culture of Caring Hygiene Basket Project is part of SKYCTC’s broader commitment to supporting the whole student by addressing non-academic barriers that can affect persistence, retention, and completion.
