Bowling Green, KY – Each year, the Kentucky Business Society (KBS) awards scholarships to outstanding business students attending colleges across the Commonwealth. The competitive program includes three awards—$750, $500, and $250—based on academic achievement, a written essay, and supporting materials such as transcripts and faculty recommendations.
This year, Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) proudly celebrates two student recipients recognized for their excellence and dedication to the field of business.
Claire Coleman, a business student at SKYCTC, earned the top honor as the first-place recipient, receiving the $750 scholarship. Gracie Hayes, also a business student, was awarded second place and received the $500 scholarship.
Hayes shared what the scholarship means to her and her educational journey.
“The KBS Scholarship means everything to me because it helps lift some of the financial stress and allows me to focus on my education and my future,” said Hayes. “I chose SKYCTC because it offers a welcoming, supportive environment and practical programs that are helping me build a better life for myself and my family.”
SKYCTC Associate Professor April Harris, who also serves as a Director of KBS, praised Hayes for her achievement.
“I am so proud of Gracie for applying for and winning the Kentucky Business Society Scholarship,” said Harris. “She is a phenomenal student—hardworking and determined both in and outside the classroom.”
Harris also emphasized the value of involvement in the Kentucky Business Society for educators.
“For me, the Kentucky Business Society has been a way to meet and learn from so many wonderful business educators in the state,” Harris said. “I’ve incorporated ideas into my courses that I would never have considered without this network. I encourage all Kentucky business educators to consider joining KBS.”
The Kentucky Business Society is a professional organization dedicated to connecting business educators with industry leaders to strengthen business education across Kentucky. In addition to fostering these partnerships, the organization recognizes exceptional students annually through its scholarship program.
