Bowling Green, Ky. – The Kentucky Community and Technical College System has announced the 2026 KCTCS Scholars, a distinguished group of graduating students recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, campus involvement and dedication to community service.

“These scholars represent the bright future of Kentucky’s workforce, spanning fields from nursing to industrial technology,” said Ryan Quarles, president of KCTCS. “They are proof of the incredible talent being developed right here in Kentucky as we prepare students not just for jobs, but for leadership in their fields.”

Students selected from Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College for 2026 KCTCS Scholar recognition are Maiyada Hasan and Noah Yarbrough.

Each scholar will receive an honorary certificate and is eligible for up to a $500 stipend to support their next steps, whether entering the workforce or continuing their education at a four-year institution.

Maiyada Hasan
Maiyada Hasan, an Associate in Science student at SKYCTC, returned to college to pursue her passion for technology and her goal of becoming a software developer. While balancing family responsibilities with her academic workload, Hasan has remained committed to personal and academic growth. Following graduation, she plans to transfer to Western Kentucky University to continue her studies in Computer Science and build a career in the technology field.

Noah Yarbrough
Noah Yarbrough, a Respiratory Therapy student, is originally from Mayfield, Kentucky, and has demonstrated exceptional perseverance in overcoming personal and academic challenges. After becoming independent in high school, Yarbrough navigated the process of relocating to Bowling Green, securing housing and financial aid, and enrolling at SKYCTC largely on his own.

Despite facing significant obstacles, including adjusting to a new environment and overcoming personal hardships, Yarbrough has maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout his college career. He credits the support of faculty and mentors for helping him stay focused and succeed.

Yarbrough hopes his story will inspire others to persevere, emphasizing that circumstances do not define a person’s future and encouraging fellow students to remain determined in achieving their goals.
