SKYCTC STUDENTS PLACE FIRST IN THREE EVENTS AT STATE HOSA COMPETITION
South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) students, who are members of the Health Occupational Students of America (HOSA), participated in the state-wide competition at the annual HOSA State Leadership Conference, March 21-23 at the Louisville Crown Plaza Hotel. HOSA is a state and international organization for students preparing for health careers.
Nursing students: Kelsey Bowles, Max Bell and Sheonna Bartley were awarded first place medals in their respective competitive events at the conference
The Competitive Events Program is designed to motivate HOSA members and provide a system for recognizing the competencies developed by members through Health Science and Biomedical Science class instruction, related job training, and HOSA related activities.
The purpose of HOSA-Future Health Professionals is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.
SKYCTC award recipients were:
- First Place - Medical Spelling – Kelsey Bowles, SKYCTC Nursing student from Glasgow, KY
- First Place - Medical Math – Sheonna Bartley, SKYCTC Nursing student from Glasgow, KY
- First Place – Medical Terminology - Max Bell, SKYCTC Nursing student from Bowling Green, KY
Winners of the State HOSA competition are eligible to compete at the International Leadership Conference to be held June 19-22 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida.
