As an alumnus of the esteemed community college, Grimes has risen through the ranks to become president of Stewart Richey Construction, a leading construction company in the United States. His journey from a student at SKYCTC (formerly BGTC) to a successful businessperson is a testament to the college's commitment to providing quality education to its students.

Grimes graduated from SKYCTC with a degree in HVAC/Refrigeration. After graduation, he went to work for Houchens Industries before starting his commercial business, Grimes Refrigeration. In 2000, he was recruited to Stewart Richey Construction as a Division Manager and promoted to Vice President in 2005. After nineteen years with Stewart Richey, he was named President in 2019 and continues in that role today. Grimes was named the inaugural recipient of SKYCTC's distinguished alumni award in 2022. He is dedicated to giving back to his alma mater by serving on the SKYCTC Foundation Board of Directors and is involved in the community by serving as a board member for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, Bowling Green-Warren Co. Licensing Board, and the Builders Association of Southcentral KY.

Grimes credits his time at SKYCTC for laying the foundation of his successful career. The college's focus on practical skills and real-world experience prepared Grimes to hit the ground running in his career. With the knowledge gained at Southcentral, Grimes has successfully guided Stewart Richey Construction to new heights of success.

"I think SKYCTC means everything to the community. You know it provides so many affordable opportunities for education. It's nearby, it's affordable, it's got so much diversity, so much strength and education that it offers that I think it's life-changing for so many people and I'm an example."

As the President of Stewart Richie Construction, Grimes is responsible for overseeing the company's operations and ensuring its continued growth. Under his leadership and management teams, the company has worked on several prominent construction projects, including high-rise buildings, bridges, and highways. "I think what I'm most proud of is what I've been able to accomplish through the trades. As I was watching classmates ahead of me graduate, they were kind of having to move away from Bowling Green and you know Bowling Green is my hometown and so moving away from Bowling Green wasn't an option for me," said Grimes.
