The Pre-Engineering pathway prepares students to transfer to WKU, or other institution, and complete a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
What Is Pre-Engineering?
SKYCTC’s Mathematics & Sciences Division Pre-Engineering Program formalized a partnership with the Engineering Department at Western Kentucky University in 2018.
If you complete all of the courses listed below (with the appropriate grades), you will receive an Associate of Sciences degree from SKYCTC and an engineering degree from WKU.
While we do not have official agreements with all colleges and universities, these courses are typical of Pre-Engineering courses required at most institutions.
To receive an Associate in Sciences degree, students must have at least a 2.0 GPA; however, Engineering students are required to have a grade of “C” or higher in all Mathematics, Sciences, and Engineering courses.

Length of Program
Students ready for calculus in the first semester can complete this program in two years. To be calculus-ready, students need to complete a college algebra course with a minimum grade of C or have a high enough placement score to test directly into calculus.
