SKYCTC Center for Cyber Security
The Center for Cyber Security at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College serves as the college’s focal point for cybersecurity education, practice, outreach, and collaboration. The Center supports students, faculty, and community partners by connecting cybersecurity programs of study with current industry practices, student engagement opportunities, security awareness resources, and professional pathways. Through program guidance, cyber defense information, student activities, faculty collaboration, and input from an external advisory board, the Center helps strengthen cybersecurity learning and awareness across the college and the broader community.

Leading the Way!
The SKYCTC Computer and Information Technology Industry Advisory Board serves as an external, advice-giving body that supports the Center, the cybersecurity Programs of Study, and supports SKYCTC’s efforts to meet expectations for programmatic guidance, community connection, and continuous improvement. The board provides a formal connection between the Center, cybersecurity faculty, college administration, students, local and regional employers, industry professionals, community partners, and other educational institutions. Its purpose is to help ensure that SKYCTC’s cybersecurity curriculum, student learning opportunities, cyber defense practices, outreach activities, and workforce preparation remain aligned with the needs of the community and the expectations of the cybersecurity profession. The advisory board does not serve in an administrative or policy-making capacity. Administrative and policy-making authority rests with SKYCTC administration and faculty; however, the guidance provided by the board may be used to inform program improvements, curriculum updates, outreach priorities, student engagement opportunities, assessment of educational outcomes, and the ongoing activities of the Center. Membership includes include a representative group of individuals from the SKYCTC regional service area selected for their information technology technical expertise, workforce perspective, educational experience, or ability to advise the college on the future direction of cybersecurity and information technology programming. Members may include local and national industry professionals, employers, faculty from other institutions, program students, community partners, government or nonprofit representatives, and others who can provide meaningful guidance for the Center and related programs. The board meets at least twice each academic year to establish priorities, review program needs, discuss workforce trends, and identify opportunities for continued improvement. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed. The board may assist SKYCTC by identifying business and industry needs, advising on curricular changes, supporting continuing education and community outreach, promoting cybersecurity awareness, identifying student opportunities, strengthening employer and community relationships, assisting with placement or experiential learning opportunities, and contributing to the assessment of educational outcomes.
