Bowling Green, KY – April 11, 2025 – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) is celebrating Dual Credit Week, April 14–18. SKYCTC’s Fall 2024 dual credit enrollment of more than 2,400 high school students marked an 18.1% increase over the previous fall.

These students saved over $2 million in tuition and completed 11,700 total credit hours and 377 courses, providing a strong start on their future. Enrollment for Fall 2025 is underway.

As the area’s largest provider of dual credit, SKYCTC continues to expand access to affordable, college-level coursework for high school students, empowering them to save time, reduce tuition costs, and jumpstart college and careers. Dual credit classes offer college-level coursework that counts for both high school and college credit.

The college also works with 27 public and private partner high schools, 14 school districts, and a significant homeschool student population.

“Dual credit is a definite win for our students since they can get a head start on college and career. It is also a great investment in our workforce and benefits the economy, as well as families and our entire community,” said Dr. Brooke Justice, Interim President of SKYCTC

The state’s investment in two dual credit scholarships has fueled this enrollment growth. The Dual Credit Scholarship currently covers two general education courses each year for juniors and seniors for a total of four scholarships for each student. The Work Ready Dual Credit Scholarship covers two technical education classes each year for four years of high school for a total of eight classes. Additional dual credit classes are offered at half the standard rate of KCTCS tuition.

By participating in SKYCTC dual credit, students can earn the DC (Dual Credit) to Finish Scholarship, which awards qualifying students $5,000 to continue their education at SKYCTC. Students must complete at least 9 hours of SKYCTC dual credit with a 3.0 GPA to qualify.  The scholarship is renewable for two years or until the completion of the associate degree, whichever comes first.

Current SKYCTC student Kimber Doyle said the SKYCTC Dual Credit classes gave her the skill set to be a successful student at SKY. “The DC2finsh Scholarship I am receiving at SKY has made the financial stress of being a student go away. It also motivates me to keep up my grades so I can keep my scholarship, says Doyle.
