BOWLING GREEN, Ky– Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) dual credit student, Aliza Wilson, has made her mark on both state and national levels through the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel 365 competition.

Aliza first enrolled at SKYCTC as a dual credit student in Fall 2023 during her sophomore year at Russellville High School. Since then, she has completed coursework in twelve different college classes and is currently enrolled in four more this semester. These opportunities have allowed her to fulfill most of her general education requirements before graduating from high school in 2026.

In Spring 2025, while completing her BAS 110 online course, Aliza earned the highest score and fastest time in Kentucky on the MOS Excel 365 certification exam, placing first in the state among competitors from all Kentucky postsecondary institutions. This victory qualified her to advance to the U.S. MOS Championship in Dallas, Texas, where she competed against other first-place winners from across the nation. Out of all participants, Aliza earned an impressive 8th place nationally in Excel.

“The opportunity to take dual credit courses at SKYCTC has provided me access to classes and content not offered at my small high school,” said Aliza. “Not only have I nearly completed my general education requirements, but I’ve also gained opportunities I never expected—like being the 2025 Kentucky State Champion in Excel 365 and competing nationally. I’ve even received internship and job offers through connections I made at the championship. Plus, I’ve picked up a nickname along the way—‘spreadsheet girl.’”

Beyond her academic achievements, Aliza is a talented French horn player and plans to double major in French horn performance and accounting or a related business field after graduation.

Her accomplishments highlight not only her personal dedication but also the opportunities SKYCTC dual credit courses provide for high school students to earn college credit, gain industry certifications, and explore career pathways.
