KCTCS Students Invited to Pathfinder Student Leadership Conference

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Students across the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) are invited to develop their leadership skills and prepare for future success through the Pathfinder Student Leadership Conference, hosted by Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC).

The free, one-day virtual conference is designed for KCTCS students interested in strengthening their leadership abilities, becoming more engaged on campus and in their communities, and developing skills that can benefit them in their future careers.

Through a combination of workshops, experiential activities and self-reflection, participants will explore ways to make positive changes in their own lives and communities while learning practical strategies for effective leadership.

The conference will be offered entirely online through Microsoft Teams on two dates:

  • Friday, Oct. 2, from 4–9:30 p.m. CT
  • Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m.–2:30 p.m. CT

Students may select the session that best fits their schedule.

Leadership Topics

The Pathfinder Student Leadership Conference will feature sessions addressing a variety of leadership and professional development topics, including:

  • Leadership Across the Stage
  • Unconventional Leadership – The Artist as Activist
  • Recruitment and Retention
  • Student Leadership Opportunities
  • Dealing with Conflict
  • Communication and Persuasion
  • Cultivating Social Capital
  • Career Development – Skills to Graduate With

Earn Leadership Certificates

Students who attend and complete the conference will receive the Pathfinder Institute Certificate and Leadership Principles Certificate.

Additional certificates are available for students who complete specific leadership activities:

  • Reflective Student Leader Certificate – Students who submit a personal leadership philosophy paper will receive this certificate. A rubric will be provided to students who register for the conference.
  • Involved Student Leader Certificate – Students who attend the conference and are members of a student organization at their KCTCS institution will receive this certificate.
    The conference provides students with an opportunity to connect leadership development with their college experience, career preparation and involvement in their communities.
