Placement Testing & Assessment | SKYCTC

Placement Testing & Assessment

The college placement exams are designed to evaluate the foundational skills of incoming students across several academic areas.

We use KYOTE and Accuplacer, which are computerized placement tests. The purpose of the tests is to place students in college courses to match their skill level.

Students may test in Math, Reading comprehension, and English/Writing.

Placement tests are not required for all students. You may be exempt from all or part of the placement testing requirement based on:

  • High school GPA / GED scores
  • Your ACT/SAT scores in Reading, Mathematics, and English
  • Successful completion of English/Writing and Math from previous college coursework

Walk-in testing is available Monday through Thursday, between 7:30am and 1:00pm at our Main Campus, located at 1845 Loop Drive, Bowling Green, Kentucky.

SKYCTC will be closed on federal holidays and during institutional closings. Please check the Academic Calendar for information on closures.

Important information before you test:

  • Although tests are not timed, please allow at least 45 minutes per testing session.
  • All students are required to provide a valid state-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, at the time of testing.
  • There is no cost for placement testing.
  • All placement scores are valid for four years.
  • Calculators are provided.
